Summary

USS MAKIN ISLAND, Gulf of Aden (Feb. 13, 2017) U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit participate in a half a marathon race aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) in the Gulf of Aden, Feb. 13. Marines and Sailors ran 42 laps around the flight deck of the USS Makin Island and were provided refreshments during the race. The 11th MEU is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet’s mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region while underway during their West-Pac 16-2 deployment.
