Various views of the third of five EVA's performed to repair HST
Summary
Various views of the third of five extravehicular activities (EVA) performed to repair the Hubble Space Telescope by the STS-61 mission. Views include: Wide view of the HST in the Endeavour's payload bay (with window reflection) (002). Astronaut F. Story Musgrave is reflected in the shiny surface of the HST as he works with a Portable Foot Restraint (PFR), preparing to install the new Wide Field/Plantary Camera (WF/PC 2). WF/PC 1 is seen temporarily stowed in the right foreground (003-5). Fish-eye view of Musgrave traversing the orbiter's payload bay sill after installing the WF/PC 2 (006-18). Musgrave, camera in hand, is photographed tethered to the HST (019). Fish-eye view Endeavour backdropped against the blackness of space, with the Sun displaying a rayed effect (starburst). The extended Remote Manipulator System (RMS) arm that the astronaut was standing on is seen on the left side of the view (020-4). Astronaut Jeffrey A. Hoffman signals directions to Swiss Astronaut Claude Nicollier, as the latter controls the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) arm during the third of five space walks on the HST. A portion of the Earth's surface can be seen directly behind him (025-31). Views 003, 024 and 026 were selected by PAO to be released to the public.
