Enas Abbas receives some gifts from US Army (USA) Colonel (COL) John Ottenbacher, Task Force 198th's Battalion Aid Station (BAS), prior to departing Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hotel. Enas is the niece of Eklas Abbas, a young Iraqi woman whose legs were badly injured during a battle between US Marines and insurgents in August 2004. Eklas's mother and sister will be transported in a medically equipped High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) to a Polish hospital in Karbarla where she will undergo reconstructive surgery to her legs during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM

Eklas Abbas (left), a young Iraqi woman injured during a battle between US Marines and insurgents, back in August 2004, is taken by a medically equipped High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) to a Polish hospital in Karbarla, Iraq along with her mother, sister and niece during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
