At the entrance to Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, the ORI scenario was: "Workman down with broken ankle on roof of air conditioning mechanical bay." Responding to the radio call, the fire department, after locating the victim, put a splinter on his legs, placed him onto a stokes litter, rigged a hoist and performed a vertical rescue by lowering him off the roof for transport to the hospital. They were participating in the 21st Space Wing's Operational Readiness Inspection conducted at Cheyenne Mountain Air Station and Peterson AFB, Colo., 13 to 17 February 1996.
