U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from the 497th Engineering Company, use steel template to space out six-inch pilings which will compose the frame of the new border fence separating the United States and Mexico. They then use a two-ton hammer capable of 7,000 pounds of force to drive the pilings in. The crane used to hold the hammer rest on the elevated causeway built by Navy Seabees of Amphibious Construction Battalion One (ACB-1) as part of Joint Task Force Six (JTF6). The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
