An, a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, risked his life by flying his CH-34 Sikorsky helicopter into the path of a UH-1H helicopter to force it to abort an unsafe landing on a field, sabotaged by the enemy, and then shepherded the crippled helicopter to a safe haven. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
