U.S. Navy Sailors prepare for flight operations on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), on Jan. 12, 2007.  The deck is filled with F-14 Tomcat, F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters and an assortment of other tactical aircraft. The EISENHOWER and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 are on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of maritime security operations, in the Arabian Sea. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
