Ceremonies - Navy & Marines - The Return of the Victory Feelt to New York. With clocklike precision, which is so characteristic of the United States Navy, America's majestic fleet moved up the Hudson River through a heavy snowstorm. After the review of the fleet by Secretary Daniels, half of the sailorscame ashore to partake in a parade down Fifth Avenue where they were cheered by thousands of people. Two hundred and fifty Gordon and McLean Highlanders brought Fifth Avenue to its street windowns to view the passing of the Scotsman as they swung down the thoroughfare headed by their bagpipers. They were the chief attraction of British Recruiting Week beginning July 16, 1917. A big rally on Friday night at Madison Square Garden wound up the weeks activities. Lord Northcliffe and James M.
