US Army (USA) Corporal (CPL) Chris George, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB), 1ST Battalion (BN), 201st Field Artillery Regiment, Fairmont, West Virginia (WV), gives a child a ride on his shoulders at the Houma-Terrbonne Civic Center in Houma, Louisiana (LA). The civic center is a temporary home for roughly 500 people evacuated from Terrbonne Parish and New Orleans due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The US Army is contributing to the humanitarian assistance operations led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in conjunction with the Department of Defense (DoD). Hurricane/Tropical Storm - New Orleans, La. , July 19, 2011 -- The Louisiana Recovery Office recently hosted 17 delegates from various countries in East Asia as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program sponsored by the U. S. Department of State. The delegates, who are all either emergency medical or emergency management officials in their respective countries, came to the U. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
