Charles Dana Gibson, chairman of the division of pictorial publicity of the Committee on Public Information, gave a luncheon in Washington to some of the government's leading publicity men and those who are making Uncle Sam's posters. In this group,  from left to right (without regard to rows) are: D.W. Lee, Herbert Adams, Prof. Richard Rice, Library of Congress; M.L. Blumenthal, H. Devitt Welsh, Oliver Dennet Grover, George Creel, Frederick Keppell, (at top) W.E. Hall (in stripped suit), Edward N. hurley, (with hands folded). Armor - Armor - Designing armor for American Soldiers. In the Armorer's Workshop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, N.Y. where under the direction of Major Bashford Dean, Ord. Dept., U.S.A., and Curator of Armor at the Museum, armor for the American soldiers fighting in France is being designed. The suits or armor used in medieval times which many collectors have brought to the museum were carefully inspected and the good points brought to the museum were carefully inspected and the good points brought to bear in fashioning this modern armor. The actual labor is being performed by Assistant Curator of Armor at the Museum, Daniel Tachaux and his assistnat Sergt. Jacques Bartel, of the Ord. Dept. American soldiers wearing this armor have gone into actual battle to test the effectiveness of the covering, and upon the result of the experiments depends whether the soldiers are to wear armor. Standing at the left is John James Byrne, member of the American Red Cross Mission to Italy, Major Byrne is a lawyer of national reputation and Vice President of the State Bar Association of N.Y. retired from his profession to take up Red Cross work in Italy. Lt. Col. Robert J. Perkins (right) was regent of the University of the state of New York, as well as President of one of the largest industrial organizations in the U.s, Director of one of New York's greatest banks and President of the Neurological Institute. At the outbreak of the war he presented his yacht to the Government and became Red Cross Commissioner to Italy. Col. Apolloni, (center) is head of the Comitate Civili of Rome.
