US Navy (USN) Sailors assigned to the Visit, Board, Search Seizure (VBSS) Team from the Harpers Ferry Class Dock Ling Ship, USS OAK HILL (LSD 51), aboard a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), boards the Motor Vessel (MV) BHAKTI SAGAR, a motor vessel recently released by Somalian pirates. The boarding came after the BHAKTI SAGAR requested assistance, after being released by Somalian pirates. During a ship-to-ship transfer, OAK HILL provided approximately 3,000 gallons of fresh water, 110 pounds each of flour rice, processed meat two cases of Meals Ready-to-Eat (MRE). The 15-man Indian crew also received a hot meal from OAK HILL'S galley 3,900 gallons of JP5 diesel fuel...

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
