In the afternoon of the 21st of April, 1996, in the small town of Visoko, two German Army Engineers inspect the Sixty Ton Maximum Load Capacity Bridge, now the Visoko Bridge, while crossing it during the opening. The Visoko Bridge was built by German and Romanian Army Engineers during the months of March and April, 1996. Before the rebuilding of the bridge, the surrounding area had to be cleared of mines that were laid after its destruction. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
