A US Navy (USN) F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter, Strike Fighter Squadron 14 (VFA-14), Tophatters, Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore, California (CA), conducts a mission over e Persian Gulf region. The Hornet is armed wi an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile on e wingtip and a couple of GBU-12 500-pound bombs, plus an AGM-65 Maverick missile on e pylon. Tucked under e intake is an AAQ-14 LANTIRN (Low-Altitude Navigation and Targeting InfraRed for Night) pod. Also under e fuselage, a 370-gallon External Fuel Tank. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
