A 20-foot storm surge associated with Hurricane Katrina submerged the building. The building received damages from a tornado that destroyed façade and fenestration elements. Louisiana Recovery Office staff participated in dedication ceremonies at the newly reconstructed St. Mary's Academy, an all-girls Catholic school located at 6905 Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
