The 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA leads the newest U.S. Navy Virginia Class New Attack Submarine Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) TEXAS (SSN 775) (left) up the channel into Port Galveston, Texas, on Sept. 4, 2006. The second boat in her class, TEXAS is able to attack targets ashore with highly accurate cruise missiles and conduct covert long-term surveillance of land areas, littoral waters or other naval forces. Other missions include anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare, special forces delivery and support, mine delivery and minefield mapping. TEXAS will be commissioned Sept. 9, 2006 here at Port Galveston.
