The Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) sits by the shore providing 6000 gallons of fresh water a day to the citizens of Degirmendere, Turkey. Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)) during Operation AVID RESPONSE (OAR) are helping provide water to victims of the August 17 earthquake here. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
