The 1ST Special Forces Group, 2nd Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington, and the Royal Thai Army Airborne preform a friendship static jump out of a CH-47 Chinook helocopter during Exercise COBRA GOLD 2001. COBRA GOLD is a multilateral exercise that includes more than 10,000 participants, 45 aircraft and 9 ships from the United States military, the Royal Thai Armed Forces, and the Singaporean Armed Forces. COBRA GOLD is the largest multilateral military exercise held in Southeast Asia and is designed to improve the armed forces' ability to work together during peace enforcement operations and to conduct humanitarian assistance programs throughout the exercise area

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
