Weapons and equipment used by a Marine reconnaissance team during Operation Desert Shield include, from left: an M998 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) with an M-249 squad automatic weapon (SAW) on top and an M998 with an M-2 .50 caliber machine gun. In front of the hard-roofed M998 is a Marine armed with an M-249 SAW. A Marine armed with an M16 rifle, equipped with M-209 grenade launcher, is beside the M998. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
