Onboard the flight deck of the US Navy (USN) Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), an unidentified civilian sports fisherman is readied for a transport flight aboard a USN SH-60F Seahawk helicopter, to Naval Station (NS) North Island, California (CA). The fisherman was rescued from his stranded fishing boat in the Pacific Ocean, by STENNIS crew members, and is being airlifted after being treated for head injuries by the ship's medical staff. The STENNIS and its embarked Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) are currently underway in the Pacific Ocean conducting a Tailored Ship's Training Availability (TSTA)

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
