Fire retardant oozes from a hose after re-supplying a C-130 Hercules from the 302nd Airlift Wing, 731st Airlift Squadron, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. at the Redding Municipal Airport, Calif. The aircraft, one of two from the 731st Airlift Squadron was joined by two more C-130s from the California Air National Guard's 146th Airlift Wing at Channel Islands. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
