American Red Cross - I thru M - The members of the A.E.F. like jam so much that the girls at the American Red Cross canteen could not open the cans fast enough. Capt. S.A. Mitchell, A.R.C, knew of problem and invented a can-opener that can be worked and with very little effort and leaves no jagged edges to hurt tender hands. Capt. Mitchell is here demonstrating the use of it. As fast as they can be made they are forwarded to the various canteens

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
