Airplanes - Types - Photo of a huge Handley-Page bombing machine which was built by the Standard Aero Corporation, Elizabeth,  N.J. is one of the type that will be built in the U.S. for the British government. The machine has a wing spread of 150 feet with the weight of five tons and is capable of lifting from four to six thousand pounds, with two liberty motors. The speed will be between 90 to 100 miles per hour. It is rumored that this type of machine will probably be used in attempting the Trans-Atlantic flight

The three-year-old relief effort has been able to resume their relief mission after a five month hold due to aircraft receiving ground fire over Sarajevo. MASTER Sergeant (MSGT) Tony Laudcina, USAF, 305th Security Police Squadron (SPS), McGuire AFB, New Jersey, monitors a thermal imaging camera while flying over the rubble of the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City. The hand held camera is mounted on a MH-53M helicopter from 20th Special Operations Squadron, Hurlbert Field, Florida. The 305th SPS is working with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid engineers on the ground. The rescue and recovery efforts continue with tons of debris slowly removed from the WTC site

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
