A jump exchange is a time honored jump tradition that affords individuals the opportunity to earn the right to wear the wings of foreign military paratroopers who participate in the jump exchange. COBRA GOLD '01 is regularly scheduled, joint-combined exercise designed to ensure regional peace and strengthen the ability of the royal Thai Armed Forces to defend Thailand or respond to regional contingencies. After a crash landing a 37th Tactical Airlift Squadron C-130E sits off the end of the runway at Biebelstadt Army Airfield, Germany. Recovery team personnel place wing supports under the two wings. Buffeted by high winds on final approach the landing gear collapsed and the number one engine caught fire on touchdown. An F-15E Strike Eagle from the 366th Air Expeditionary Wing (AEW), 391st Fighter Squadron, at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, return to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, from their first bombing missions in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM into Afghanistan. The F-15E is equipped with the LANTRIN Navigation and Targeting System pod and carries two racks of GBU-12 500-pound bombs with CCG MAU-169 guidance system, AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and AIM-9 Sidewinders, and 600-gallon drop tanks. The 366th AEW is one of the Air Force's "on-call 911" fighter wings, ready to deploy at a moments notice

The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA keeps those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year.
