150818-N-CG436-305 CHARLESTOWN, Mass (Aug. 18, 2015)

description

Summary

150818-N-CG436-305 CHARLESTOWN, Mass (Aug. 18, 2015) Seabee divers with Construction Dive Detachment Alfa (CDD/A) of Underwater Construction Team (UCT) ONE approach the USS Constitution for a guided tour at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Shortly before, the team conducted an underwater inspection of the mooring system for the port security barrier (PSB) that acts as a buffer between the Constitution and the rest of the harbor when the ship is not in dry dock for restoration and repairs. The purpose of the inspection is to verify the structural integrity of the mooring chains. Currently, the Constitution is in Dry Dock 1 of the Charlestown Navy Yard for a multi-year planned restoration program. UCT ONE deploys around the world to conduct underwater construction, inspection, repair and demolition operations in support of both peacetime and wartime missions.
