Kelly is from Twin Lake, Mich. and is assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 which is embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group is deployed with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of the Navy’s maritime strategy in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of responsibility.
