Families relocating to Aviano currently utilize rental space in the local community to serve as temporary lodging. This project, consisting of four three-story buildings, provides 100 suites for permanent change of station (PCS) personnel and their families. The TLF will provide 52 one-bedroom and 48 two-bedroom apartments. This construction greatly increases the Aviano community "Quality of Life."

Vincenzo Ianni and Giuseppe D'Angeli, Italian construction workers, continue work on the new dorms at Aviano AB, Italy. The Aviano 2000 Program (AV2K) is one of the most aggressive construction programs ever undertaken at a single military installation. Involving over 274 NATO/USAF projects estimated at a cost of $535 million, the magnitude of this program cannot be overstated. The AV2K program is one of the largest ever undertaken by the USAF and will transform the entire base structure. When completed, Aviano Air Base will become a modern 21st century operational air base capable of sustaining air combat and combat support in the Southern European Theater

A new "One plus One" dormitory goes up in the Aviano Air Base flightline area as Aviano 2000, a $535 million dollar NATO/USAF construction project, progress. This dormitory project consists of four 3-story buildings totaling over 148,000 square feet. These modern facilities will provide lodging for 408 enlisted personnel. The floor plan is based on the US Air Forces new 1+1 concept that provides individual sleeping quarters with a shared kitchen and bathroom. This construction initiative is greatly increasing the Aviano community "Quality of Life" as many new facilities are brought on line
