Summary

A picture taken in the southern part of the island of Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Nov. 3, 2018 illustrates the destruction caused when Super Typhoon Yutu struck the island Oct. 25, 2018. It was the strongest tropical cyclone to pass over Saipan and Tinian in the CNMI, equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane. As part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency support, members from Joint Region Marianas and Indo-Pacific Command assigned to Task Force West are working alongside CNMI’s civil and local officials to bolster typhoon recovery efforts.
