Old helmets on exhibition in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, N.Y. These helmets are of Italian origin dating back to the 15th century. They are technically known as Saladebarbute, and are all of Milanese workmanship. The helmet on the extreme left is of classic design, and follows the fashion set by the ancient Greeks. These helmets are being studied by military experts so that the good points will not be lost in designing modern armor

Bids were asked to furnish helmets, such as this, made of a special alloy steel, 15/100 of an inch in thickness and capable of stopping a rifle bullet. It is made of a series of thin spring steel plates made semiflexible by being sewn together in a canvas sack. This is strapped over the shoulder and around the waist as shown in the picture

Ceremonies - Liberations - Naturalization Ceremonies - Making citizens of 300 foreign born fighting men wearing U.S.A. uniform. One of the most impressive scenes witnessed at any of the training camps where men of the National Army are being whipped into shape was enacted at Camp Upton, N.Y. when 300 foreign born members wearing the uniform were admitted to full citizenship. These men were granted full citizenship in order to give them every protection accorded a citizen of the United States. This photograph shows the men who were instrumental in aiding these foreign born fighters gain recognition as full fledged Americans. From left to right: front row.
