Bridge Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group uses a raft to transport Marines and tactical vehicles with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division across the New River to conduct training at live-fire ranges. The Marines supported 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment personnel by ferrying hundreds of troops and dozens of vehicles across a 2.4-mile wide portion of the New River. By ground convoy, the same training area lays 35-miles south of Mainside Camp Lejeune and may take multiple hours to reach and thousands of dollars of fuel and contracting vehicles.
