Brig. Gen. Charles Chiarotti, deputy commanding general of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Africa, recognizes exceptional or outstanding work aboard the Iwo Jima by presenting coins from the MARFOR-AF commanding general, Lt. Gen. John M. Paxton, Jr. Chiarotti was aboard ship off the coast Morocco with the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco and other senior U.S. and Moroccan military officers for a tour of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's equipment and features during African Lion 2012. African Lion is an annually scheduled bilateral exercise between U.S. and Moroccan military forces designed to improve communication and interoperability between the two countries.
