Contractors managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

description

Summary

Contractors managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installed the final blue roof on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the 12 Florida Panhandle counties most impacted by Hurricane Michael. The storm made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida on Oct. 10. The Corps installed the first blue roof in Florida on Oct. 19 and over 7,800 blue roofs in Florida in 47 days.

USACE blue roofs are contractor-installed, reinforced plastic coverings secured by wooden strips held in place by nails or screws on storm-damaged homes that allow residents to shelter in place in their own homes.
