Soldiers assigned to the 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command

participated in parades and ceremonies, honoring fallen heroes, during Memorial Day weekend May 25-27, 2019. Belanger, and Command Sgt. Maj. Theodore Dewitt, Command Sergeant Major, 85th USARSC, participated in a Gold Star Family Breakfast Saturday morning in Chicago to honor the sacrifice of fallen military heroes and then walked to Daley Plaza to participate in a wreath laying ceremony. Garcia, who was the Chicago parade Grand Marshal, shared a emotional story at the ceremony about a Soldier she had served with who died on active duty. Following the ceremony, military leaders walked to Lake and State Street for the Chicago Memorial Day parade and observed the parade from the reviewing stand. On Sunday, Belanger led ten new Army recruits in the oath of enlistment and delivered a speech at the Memorial Day observance in Norridge, Illinois. Later that day, Belanger and Dewitt finished the Memorial Day weekend by participating in the Arlington Heights Centennial Memorial Day parade. In North suburban Highland Park, Col. Daniel Jaquint, 85th USARSC, gave remarks at a Memorial Day service.
