US COAST GUARD HURRICANE KATRINA
Summary
BELLE CHASSE, La. (Sept. 4, 2005) Despite being pummeled by Hurricane Katrina's Category 4 winds, Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans quickly recovered and served as a successful staging area for air-rescue operations. Nearly one-third of the Coast Guard's entire air fleet was deployed to the region to support rescue operations in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
