The Nepalese government requested assistance after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country April 25, 2015. The U.S. government ordered Joint Task Force 505 to provide unique capabilities to assist Nepal.
"We're very proud to be here and be a part of the team to help Nepal," said Lt. Gen. John Wissler, JTF 505 commander. "Personally, I'm privileged to command a great bunch of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who are very anxious to help the Nepalese people and the Nepalese Army."
