Instructors Manny Ortiz and Hunter Heard complete some
Summary
Instructors Manny Ortiz and Hunter Heard complete some training Nov. 14, 2018, in a new utility terrain vehicle they received for use in the 2018-19 training season for the Cold-Weather Operations Course at Fort McCoy, Wis. The Cold-Weather Operations Course is modeled after the Cold-Weather Leader Course, which is taught by the Army Northern Warfare Training Center at Black Rapids, Alaska. Students learn about a wide range of cold-weather subjects in the course, including skiing and snowshoe training, using the ahkio sleds, setting up the Arctic 10-person cold-weather tent, and more. Training also focuses on terrain and weather analysis, risk management, cold-weather clothing, developing winter fighting positions in the field, and camouflage and concealment.
