Life at Combat Outpost Herrera, operation Enduring Freedom

description

Summary

A U.S. Army M4 carbine rifle rests in the illumination of a flashlight in "red light" mode in one of the fortified fighting positions of Combat Outpost Herrera late the night of Dec. 2. COP Herrera sits at 8,700 feet above sea level and is surrounded by small villages and by mountains that reach elevations of over 15,000 feet. The terrain and large Taliban presence of the area make it one of the most kinetic ISAF outposts in Regional Command-East.
