Summary
Lt. Col. Dylan Monaghan, U.S. Embassy Tokyo, coordinates with officials from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Tokyo Electric Power Company at Onahama port March 29, 2011. The U.S. government donated a system of high pressure pumps and hoses to be used to spray freshwater from barges onto the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels towed the barges full of freshwater from Yokosuka to the site. Eight Yokota Airmen designed and created necessary adapters, pressure valves and other pieces of equipment to modify the pumps for the mission.
