Maj. Gen. William G. Beard, the deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve-Pacific, and Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Leota, U.S. Army Reserve-Pacific, visit troops from Washington in Singapore July 26. The soldiers from the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, traveled to Singapore to share strategies and skills with the 2nd Singapore Infantry Regiment for two weeks in July during Exercise Lightning Strike in Singapore. The soldiers utilized the Murai urban training facility to conduct mobile operations in an urban environment. The soldiers dismounted Terrex infantry carrier vehicles then continued with door-to-door reconnaissance. The two military exercises are meant to allow the armies to become familiar with each other's techniques, tactics and procedures as well as foster cultural relations.
