Nepalese soldiers load an MV-22 Osprey with supplies
Summary
Nepalese soldiers load an MV-22 Osprey with supplies May 10 as part of the international relief effort after the Nepal earthquake. The U.S. Marines, a part of Joint Task Force 505, flew the Osprey from the Tribhuvan International Airport to Biratnagar Airport. The Osprey made multiple trips between Biratnagar Airport and the rural town of Dhading Besi to drop off more than 500 tarps, blankets and bags of rope during Operation Sahayogi Haat. The Nepalese government requested assistance from U.S. Agency for International Development after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck April 25. In response, the U.S. military sent Marines, Airmen, Soldiers and Sailors, as part of JTF 505 at the direction of USAID, to offer their unique joint capabilities to assist the government of Nepal in their relief effort.
