Description: Earth observation images of Cape Cod, Massachusetts taken during the STS-36 mission from Atlantis, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104. This view of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA (42.0N, 70.5W) is a detailed look at the national seashore recreation area with its many fine resorts and summer estate homes. Geologically, the cape is a deposit of earth and stone called a terminal moraine, left by the great Pleistocene glaciers of about 20, 000 years ago. This image was selected by the Public Affairs Office (PAO) for public release.
