Boyle served for 34 years as a U.S. Military Chaplain and was a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan. His last tour of duty was as the Atlantic Area Chaplain for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Boyle’s wife, Jane Boyle, received the flag from his casket.
