Santa Clara, N.M., December 11, 2013 -- After severe fires scorched the vegetation and trees in this ancient Native American landscape; heavy rains fell, which ran off sediment and water demonstrating erosion rates like never before recorded in this area. The once lush riparian corridors of the upper Santa Clara are now filled with debris from the major flooding event and FEMA is working closely with the tribes for debris removal steps.
