Subject Description: Secretary Alphonso Jackson on visit to Columbus, Ohio, joining Ohio Congressmen Bob Ney, Michael Oxley, and Patrick Tiberti for announcement, at the Columbus Metropolian Housing Authority, of HUD's fiscal year 2005 commitment of more than $789 million in housing assistance grants to aid the nation's very low-income elderly and people with disabilities, incluidng $31.4 million for Ohio low-income elderly and $5.1 million for Ohio citizens with disabilities. Assistance to the low-income elderly is carried out under Section 202 grants for new housing construction and rehabilitation projects and subsidized rents; assistance to people with disabilities is carried out under Section 811 grants for newly-constructed housing and subsidized rents.
