Several WWII Veterans of the battle receive the Legion of Honour, the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits, by President Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, for their service during the 75th D-Day Anniversary ceremony at Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, June 6, 2019. More than 1,300 U.S. Service Members, partnered with 950 troops from across Europe and Canada, have converged in northwestern France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the WWII Allied Invasion of Normandy, commonly known as D-Day.
