Sir Richard Stagg, British Ambassador to Afghanistan,
Summary
Sir Richard Stagg, British Ambassador to Afghanistan, toured the Detention Facility in Parwan and the Justice Center in Parwan, Aug. 9, 2012, to gain a better understanding of the ongoing process to transfer facilities at the DFIP to the Afghan National Army Detention Operations Command, and to witness the growth of the Rule of Law program at the JCIP. The tour was guided by U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith M. Huber, commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, and U.S. Army Col. Robert M. Taradash, commander, Task Force Protector. CJIATF 435 oversees all detainee operations in Afghanistan. Task Force Protector personnel oversee the secure and humane care, custody and control of the detainees within the facility. In this photo, Sir Richard receives a brief from Capt. Kathryn Shaw (left), forensics director, Rule of Law Field Force Afghanistan, as he tours the Afghan Criminal Techniques Academy located adjacent to the JCIP. The academy trains Afghan National Police officers in forensic disciplines such as latent prints, firearms and tool markings, DNA analysis and forensic photography.
