description

Summary

Squadrons with Marine Corps Air Station New River and MCAS Cherry Point joined forces with Marines from Company C, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, to complete a notional mission of killing or capturing a high-value target during a raid of an enemy compound. The aircraft simulated the bombardment of the compound with Hellfire missiles, 50 cal. machine guns and M-240 machine guns from AH-1W cobras, UH-1Y Hueys, and AV-8B Harriers. The infantry Marines were inserted into the compound by MV-22B Ospreys and CH-53E Super Stallions after the aerial attack to confirm the HVT was killed or to capture him and to prevent the compound from being used again to train enemy combatants.
