Summary
The 18th Field Artillery Brigade conducted a live fire of their High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Oct. 9, 2018, as part of a Rapid Infiltration facilitated by an Air Force C-130. The HIMARS live fire was supporting exercise Red Flag Alaska, and the unit also provided supporting fires for Arctic Anvil 19-01. Arctic Anvil is a joint, multi-national, force-on-force training exercise designed to provide the 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division a tough, realistic training event that validates their ability to fight and win as a combined arms team in preparation for their rotation at the Army's National Training Center in California early next year. Other participants include the Alaska National Guard, the U.S. Air Force, and a company of Canadian soldiers from 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Members of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force were also on-hand to observe the exercise in preparation for their integration with 1st Stryker Brigade at the National Training Center next year.
