The American Flag and a Civil War era Marine Corps flag fly as a joint color guard of active duty and retired Marines dressed in modern and Civil War era uniforms stand at attention before the opening ceremony of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Fisher commemoration at Kure Beach, N.C., Jan. 17, 2015. The Marine Corps Historical Interpretive Team, composed of members of the Marine Corps Historical Company and Single Marine Program Marines, used battle walks, historical weapons demonstrations, and extensive exhibits to tell the story of Civil War Marines, showing the relevance and impact of the battle and its participants on today's Corps.
