Summary

The Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to U.S. Army Cpl. James Heriot for extraordinary heroism on October 12, 1918, while serving with Company I, 118th Infantry, 30th Division, in action at Vaux-Andigny, France is displayed in the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum in Columbia, South Carolina. Heriot is one of six men from the 118th Infantry to receive the Medal of Honor during WWI. Heriot attended Clemson College for two years before withdrawing. When the United States entered World War 1, he enlisted in the South Carolina National Guard's 118th Infantry Regiment which was called to federal duty under the 30th Division, Old Hickory. (S.C.
