U.S. Marine Col. Roger B. Turner Jr., the commanding officer of Regimental Combat Team 5, presents a letter of appreciation to Lt. Raziq, an Afghan National Police precinct commander, near a local bazaar here, June 26, 2012. Turner and his staff conducted their final battlefield circulation of Marjah, Nawa, Garmsir and Khan Neshin districts, observing the progress made by Afghan security forces and the district governments over the last year. The regiment will soon transfer authority of coalition positions in southern Helmand province to RCT-6, before heading home to Camp Pendleton, Calif.
